What I Do
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I garden:
I plant seeds and watch them grow,
and hope beyond Hope that
the fruit is good.
Did I Record?
I take my notebook gardening
and my trusty pencil with the eraser
on the top.
I dig awhile, or plant some seeds
and then I stop.
A thought has popped into my head
i need to catch it 'fore it's gone
right out the top.
Did I record what's planted where?
Did I note the date my first rose
bloomed? Oh no!
I wrote some words that I can come
back to: into a poem they'll grow
I hope they blossom like that springtime rose
to warm my heart
and make it glow.
The First Rose
The first Rose of the season bloomed today:
a Damask, deeply fragrant, deeply pink.
I plucked it from the bush and it sits here
beside me, that I might draw its
rich and sensuous aroma into my heart
to help with my remembering
of your sweet stillness.
